A quintessential image of British summer: roses and lavender in bloom, but you have to be quick, because just as the buds go into full bloom, one puff of wind and the petals fall off! 🙄
A way to extend the joy of these flowers is to collect the fallen petals and flower heads, pop them into a pretty bowl with a few drops of rose and/or lavender essence and place it near an open window. Glorious smells throughout the day!
I have been topping up the petals and lavender heads as days have gone on. I like the texture and colour mix of older and fresh petals.
Hopefully in time, as my new rose and lavender bushes settle, I will have enough excess petals and lavender heads to dry and store for pot pourri supplies!
