This week we have been getting a real mix of weather of both sunshine and heavy rain. It reminds me of growing up in sub-tropical Brisbane. In terms of gardening, everything is flourishing- especially the weeds!! The good news is that the rain-softened soil makes them easy to remove. Although the green (garden and food waste) bin was collected this week, I have managed to half full it after only two days!
The above photo was captured one evening this week when I was pottering around just before putting the kids to sleep. I love the last rays of evening sunshine on the garden with the looming rain clouds in the background.
Sometimes, the long summer evenings drive me nuts, especially when I want my kids to go to bed on time during the school week. “It’s not bedtime yet- it’s still daytime!” is the argument I get. However, on none-school nights when I don’t mind them being up, it is so lovely to be able to go outside, allow the kids to burn off the last traces of energy and have a potter around.
