This past week has been more productive in the garden. The weather has behaved and so have my boys!
The bullet has been bitten and the spring onions and purple broccoli seeds have been planted. I noticed that Tussock grasses I have, have almost tripled in width since I bought them two years ago. So they have been divided and replanted along my back terrace towards the front as part of the border. There’s a feeling of satisfaction you get when you are able to get something for nothing!
Bearded irises that my Dad divided and planted roughly 4 years ago are ready to be divided up again. You can see in the photo that there are now three clear root segments. I need to wait until July after they have flowered and finished to divide them. This gives me time to think about where to replant them.
The ability to add to your garden from the existing plants that you already have, for the cost of a little care by feeding and watering, is wonderful aspect to gardening. It is a good idea to double check for specific plants you plan to divide as to exactly how and when to do it.
Another life that has multiplied in our home are the Starlings who live in our roof! This morning I woke up to frantic chirping by the chicks as they were probably being fed. It is really sweet to hear them. The increase workload of cleaning off bird poo from windows and pavements is not though! It is all part and parcel of enjoying different forms of life from the comfort of home.
